La seconda stagione di Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, il più recente capitolo animato basato sul manga Ghost in the Shell di Masamune Shirow, arriverà su Netflix il 23 maggio 2022.
Diretta da Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed) e Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex), con il character design dell’illustratore russo Ilya Kushinov (The Wonderland), questa seconda stagione continuerà a narrare i fatti accaduti nella prima, uscita nel 2020, mettendo in scena la battaglia tra la Sezione 9 e i “postumani” che minacciano l’umanità.

Oltre ai manga originario di Shirow, il mondo di Ghost in the Shell comprende già due film animati, entrambi realizzati da Mamoru Oshii (nel 1995 e nel 2004), tre serie animate (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex del 2002, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – 2nd GIG del 2004 e Ghost in the Shell: Arise del 2013) e un film live-action del 2017 diretto da Rubert Sanders e interpretato da Scarlett Johansson.
